Kunal Patel — CEO & Founder
Kunal Patel founded Dark Consultancy after two decades leading technology and transformation programmes across the public sector, financial services, defence, and energy industries. He has directly managed programme recovery engagements for government agencies, development finance institutions, and regulated enterprises across the US, Middle East, South Asia, and Southeast Asia — programmes ranging from $5M platform migrations to $200M+ enterprise transformation portfolios. His approach is the same regardless of programme size: clarity on what success looks like, accountability for outcomes rather than effort, and senior leadership present throughout delivery — not just at the start. Prior to founding Dark Consultancy, Kunal held senior delivery leadership positions across government, financial services, and defence programmes internationally, building the practitioner expertise that underpins the firm’s execution-first model. He holds PMP and PRINCE2 Practitioner certifications and is a recognised practitioner in delivery governance for regulated environments. Why We Exist
In 2019, Kunal Patel was called into a government programme that had been stalling for eleven months. The strategy was sound. The vendor was technically capable. The budget was adequate. But there was no single person accountable for whether the programme actually crossed the finish line. Three governance frameworks had been designed. None had been implemented. The programme was producing beautiful status reports on work that had not moved in weeks. That experience defined Dark Consultancy’s founding premise: the most common reason enterprise programmes fail is not bad strategy, bad technology, or even bad vendors. It is the absence of senior, accountable execution leadership — someone who is genuinely on the hook for the outcome, not just the advice.
